CHILDREN SENSORY DISORDERS

Children suffer from various sensory disorders like Sensory processing disorder (SPD), Attention deficit disorder (ADD), Attention deficit disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum disorder (ASD) and Learning disability (LD).  In SPD children, the nervous system has a problem and is not able to convey the signals received from the senses to the brain and therefore exhibit abnormal behaviour to touch, hear, see, taste or smell. SPD children may have hyper sensitive or hyposensitive. Hypersensitive is characterised by irritable, unwillingness in doing normal things. Hyposensitive is characterised by need of extra stimulus of the senses.  SPD children may be uncooperative or depressed because the child is trying to cope with his activities in his own way. Children with ASD may have difficulty with social interaction, communication and imagination. Children with ADD or ADHD may have problems with attention, trouble completing tasks and hyper active. Children with LD may have neurological problems like clumsy writing and committing mistakes while reading and writing. Hence, children with above diseases may need early intervention treatment to enhance development in the right track and help to cope up with disorders.
