Tobacco smoke is highly dangerous  and lighting cigarettes injure to some degree poisons by inhaling. Tobacco smoking shortens life to a considerable extent. Today, lung cancer is a leading cause of death. Dangers of diseases: Smoking is a major cause for strokes. It ruptures brain causing blood clot and irreparable tissue damage Cancer causing chemicals of tobacco affects lip, cheek, tongue and voice box. Smoking causes heart disease plaque and cholesterol deposit narrow the coronary heart vessels causing heart attack and cardio vascular diseases. Smoking increases increase gastric juices raising acidity, eroding the lining of the stomach and ulcers. Painful ulcers can cause haemorrhage and perforation of stomach lining. Smoking causes the lungs inability to take up oxygen leading to breathing difficulty. Tobacco smoke is a common cause of lung cancer.  It is the leading cancer for fatal death because it is difficult to detect  and spreads to liver brain abd bones. Tobacco chemicals are absorbed into the blood stream and cause bladder cancer. Carbon monoxide in smoke reduces the oxygen level in the fetus blood Nicotine of tobacco restricts blood flow from mother to fetus and retards the growth. It also increases premature birth of the baby and death.

CHILDREN SENSORY DISORDERS

Children suffer from various sensory disorders like Sensory processing disorder (SPD), Attention deficit disorder (ADD), Attention deficit disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum disorder (ASD) and Learning disability (LD).  In SPD children, the nervous system has a problem and is not able to convey the signals received from the senses to the brain and therefore exhibit abnormal behaviour to touch, hear, see, taste or smell. SPD children may have hyper sensitive or hyposensitive. Hypersensitive is characterised by irritable, unwillingness in doing normal things. Hyposensitive is characterised by need of extra stimulus of the senses.  SPD children may be uncooperative or depressed because the child is trying to cope with his activities in his own way. Children with ASD may have difficulty with social interaction, communication and imagination. Children with ADD or ADHD may have problems with attention, trouble completing tasks and hyper active. Children with LD may have neurological problems like clumsy writing and committing mistakes while reading and writing. Hence, children with above diseases may need early intervention treatment to enhance development in the right track and help to cope up with disorders. Treat the children with qualified occupational therapists under the supervision of Paediatrician in an organised manner which make the children to achieve improvement in behaviour and quality sensation. Please remember it is easy to treat  young children children as the brain is malleable.

DANGERS OF DRINKING ALCOHOL

Drinking alcohol can cause serious injuries to the parts of the body. 1. Liver: It affects the liver by accumulating fat droplets inside liver cell causing hepatitis and cirrhosis which make liver cells die. Alcohol absorbed through stomach walls to the liver to be metabolised. The liver can absorb alcohol about 1 0z. Per hour and excess continue to circulate.  2. Digestive system: Irritation of stomach lining can lead to vomiting and bleeding from small tears in the stomach, duodenal ulcers.  Cancer is a major cause of death in alcoholics.  3. Nervous system: Excess of drinking can cause memory loss or coma. Sudden withdrawal of alcohol can cause delirium. 4. Cardiovascular system: Drinking of alcohol can increase pulse rate and dilation of blood vessels. Chronic alcohol can elevate blood pressure, arteriosclerosis and cardiomyopathy. 5. Reproduction: Alcohol can cause impotence and in woman interrupt in menstruation and damage to eggs. Alcoholic pregnant woman  can cause severe damage to the new born baby like mental retardation , underweight, slower growth and other birth defects. 6. Caution: Excess drinking of alcohol can destroy relationship and loss of job. It can cause cancer, accidental death, damages to brain, nerves, liver, pancreas, stomach, heart, blood vessels and unborn baby.

DIABETIC MANAGEMENT

The risk of diabetic is due to high glucose , high blood pressure  and high blood lipids It is necessary to keep them always to near normal. Regular testing gives information on response to medication and other influences. The important goals to prevent complication in diabetes are as follows: Blood Glucose levels: Monitor blood glucose levels with glucometer regularly. Check blood glucose levels in Laboratory once in three months to find out the control of levels are normal or abnormal.   Treat if abnormal. HbA1c (Glycosylated Haemoglobin): It is the average glucose level over a period of three months. This level must be 7% or lower. BLOOD PRESSURE: Blood pressure to be checked regularly to avoid risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, eye diseases. For a diabetic patient B.P. should be 130/80 or lower. LIPIDS: Dislipidemia – High LDL, low HDL and high triglycerides are common in diabetics. These should be under control as per the ranges given in lipid profile report. EYES: Uncontrolled diabetes can cause blurred vision, cataracts, glaucoma and retinopathy. Eyes should be checked with the Doctor every year or more frequently if there is retinopathy. FEET: Uncontrolled diabetes can cause calluses, dry skin, foot ulcers, neuropathy and decrease in blood supply. If there are  problems concerning feet, check with target. KIDNEYS: Uncontrolled diabetes can cause nephropathy and so kidney function test must be carried out once a year.
